Our Fellowship Tradition
The authors and creators featured on Thy Word Media are Christians in fellowship in what are variously known as Gospel Halls, Bible Chapels, Brethren assemblies, or Open Brethren meetings — a tradition of evangelical, non-denominational Christianity rooted in New Testament principles. These gatherings are sometimes also called Christian assemblies, Brethren chapels, or simply "the assembly," and are part of the broader Open Brethren (or Open Plymouth Brethren) tradition.
Open Brethren assemblies are characterised by: the Breaking of Bread (the Lord's Supper) gathered around the Lord's table each Lord's Day; verse-by-verse Bible teaching; believers' baptism by immersion; and open, participatory worship. They have no paid clergy or denominational hierarchy, recognising instead the priesthood of all believers. The fellowship practices open communion, welcoming all who know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.
